Pink Polka Dots supports Children's expansion
Last spring, PPD spoke at a hearing in favor of Seattle Children's Hospital's expansion. Today, we are still supporting the hospital. Kelsey Josund, a founding member of PPD, was interviewed as a patient, volunteer, and guild member for the Seattle Channel's report of the hospital's expansion. Please watch the story here and support our wonderful hospital.

PPD on King 5 today!
Pink Polka Dot's segment for King 5 was aired again today at 7. If you saw us on TV and would like to join the fight against brain cancer, please see the "Make A Difference" section on the sidebar of this page.
We would also like to make 2 corrections to King 5's information, which was the same information aired a year ago. The Brian Waite Band concert that was mentioned at the end of the segment actually happened in February 2009. They also said that we have raised $100,000, but the up-to-date number is about $150,000.

PPD's successful year
At Dr. Olsen's lab this Tuesday, the Pink Polka Dots will be handing off the $51,256 we've raised this year. Our events in the past year include our third annual golf tournament, second annual dance, a benefit concert, and many craft sales. Some achievements we've made in the past year are winning the Golden Tennis Shoe Award, a feature in Teen Vogue, and many appearances on King 5 News.
Upcoming Events
This Sunday, January 10, PPD will hold our quarterly meeting at the Shoreline library. On Tuesday January 12th, the Pink Polka Dots will have a check hand-off to Dr. Olsen at his lab, and get a tour of where the research is done. This year's guild luncheon will be on April 22nd.

Masquerade Ball was a success!

The masquerade ball was great. We raised a total of $1380ish.
We'd like to thank a lot of people:
-The organizers, Sierra, Maki, Maddy, Kelsey, and Emma. They planned the event, advertised it, and ran it. Y'all are some epic kids.
-The parents, Joi Defoe, Eric Alef, Susan Berkman, Scott King, Greg Berkman, Ruth Kahle, Kim Josund, Marty Josund, Matt Howland, Don Koontz, Gary Josund, Judd Lees, and Jenny Muilenburg.
-The bands, VerleeRose and The Kleeners. Not only were the bands great, but VerleeRose manager Guy Fusman helped us out in vast proportions.
-The photographer, Erinn Hale. The pictures turned out great! (She took the pictures above, and the ones you've seen on Facebook.)

Golden Tennis Shoe Award
The Pink Polka Dots is receiving a Golden Tennis Shoe Award this year!
Senator Patty Murray is holding the 14th Annual Golden Tennis Shoe Awards soon. For those of you wondering what that is: in the 80's, a preschool program that Patty Murray taught was being threatened by budget cuts. She set out to stop this from happening, and the state legislator told her that she couldn't make a difference because she was "just a mom in tennis shoes." In spite of what they said, Murray stopped the budget cuts. For the last 14 years, Senator Murray has recognized 2-4 people/groups every year that do extraordinary things for others.
Congratulations, Pink Polka Dots members!
